New in 2019, SambaLá Saturdays! From learning how to play an authentic samba instrument to Brazilian couple dancing to Brazil’s martial art Capoeira, there is something for everyone and every age group coming at SambaLá this summer.

Samba Drums
There is nothing like playing a samba drum in the world-famous samba school drum corps. The rhythms, the coordination, and the Comradery in creating this infectious beat called samba is exhilarating to the soul.
Learn from samba instruments master drummers from SambaLá samba schools famous “bateria” which has played around the world and for amazing events like the launching of the Rio Car in Seoul Korea, to the Rose Bowl para in 2010, to the Hollywood Bowl in front of 18,000 people with the Blueman group, Monobloco, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.

Brazilian Couple Dancing
Brazil is most noted for samba but did you know that there are many couple dances from Brazil? From the samba couple dancing called “gafiera” to the infectious “forro” dance.
You don’t need to be a couple to join in! Plenty of partners to match up with in this very fun and very enjoyable dance class!
Capoeira – Brazil’s Martial Art
For those that love an aerobic workout, then the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira is for you! Taught by capoeira Master “Cumpin” (Termite in Portuguese), you will learn the movements, traditions, and how to play the capoeira instruments including the world-famous “biribau”.
No matter if you have ever “played” capoeira or have been doing so for years, Mestre Cupim will show you the “ropes” (pardon the pun) for becoming proficient at this amazing martial art that is also a dance. He will also be teaching maculele and playing the capoeira drums!
